Men's Cross Country Tops Competition at Rider Invite

PENNINGTON, N.J. – Temple men's cross country snagged its second straight first-place team finish this season at the 2017 Rider Invite. Graduate student Marc Steinsberger won the individual title for the second year in a row.
Keys to the Race
> Steinsberger was the Owls' top finisher with a time of 24:56.11 in the 8K.
> Just behind Steinsberger came freshman Kristian Jensen who finished second overall in 24:58.62.
> In fourth and fifth places were sophomore Kevin Lapsansky (25:02.45) and freshman Anton Harrsen (25:05.1), respectively.
>The Owls continued to dominate the top-10 with junior Johnathan Condly (25:14.72) and sophomore Zach Seiger (25:15.19) in eighth and ninth places.
Race Notes
>I n his second year with the Owls, Steinsberger has taken his second Rider Invite title.
> Last season, Temple only finished fifth among the eight participating teams.
> In team standings, Big 5 rival Saint Joseph's finished second followed by Rutgers in third. Host Rider finished fourth overall before Niagra (5th) and Cumberland County (6th).

> " The men's field was more competitive than the women's field at Rider. I was most proud of the way our third through seventh guys packed up throughout the race ad closed gaps that could've been detrimental to our team standings. They did a great job of working together. Overall we saw good performances from all of them and it turned out to be an awesome weekend for our program all around." – Head coach James Snyder.
