Men's Basketball Hosts Georgia on Tuesday; Owls Look for Third Straight Win

PHILADELPHIA - The first two games in a four-game homestand to start the season have both been wins for Temple men's basketball, and the Owls (2-0) look to remain undefeated when they host Georgia (1-0) on Tuesday, Nov. 13 (ESPN3 / 1210 AM WPHT).

Scouting Temple
>The Owls are 2-0, most recently defeating Detroit Mercy as part of the GotPrint.com Legends Classic presented by Old Trapper. Temple will host Loyola (MD) for a Legends Classic game on Nov. 16 before heading to Brooklyn the following week to play VCU and finally St. John's or Cal.
> Temple trailed Detroit Mercy by four points at halftime, but outscored the Titans by 20 in the second half, including going on a 17-0 run to take a double-digit lead for good.
>Senior guard Shizz Alston, Jr. scored a career-high 30 points in the Owls' most recent win, and was the first Owl to hit the 30-point mark since Quenton DeCosey ('16) on Jan. 31, 2016.
> Alston has now scored 989 career points and needs just 11 more to become the 53rd player in program history to reach 1,000 career points. Junior guard Quinton Rose is also eyeing the 1,000-point mark, currently with 847 career points.
> The Owls opened the season with a Philadelphia Big 5 win over La Salle, 75-67. Rose led Temple with 15 points, while sophomore Nate Pierre-Louis notched his first career double-double with 13 rebounds to go with 14 points.Â
> After being one of the last teams to start their season in 2017-18 on Nov. 16, the Owls were one of the first with their Nov. 6 tip-off this year. Temple's first home game a year ago was not until a full month later on Dec. 6. The team's start date this year was in fact the earliest ever in the history of the program.

> The Bulldogs scored over 50 points in each half on their way to a 110-76 defeat of Savannah State in their season opener on Nov. 9.
> Former Indiana head coach Tom Crean is in his first season at Georgia.
> Senior William "Turtle" Jackson is Georgia's leading returning scorer (8.4 ppg) and led the Bulldogs in both assists (115) and steals (23) last season.
> Georgia went 18-15 in 2017-18 and saw its season end with a loss to Kentucky in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals.
