DALLAS - The Temple men's tennis team beat host SMU 4-3 today to advance to tomorrow's quarterfinals of the American Athletic Conference Championship in Dallas behind senior Thomas Sevel's thrilling three-set victory over Tomas Vaise in the top singles flight. After dropping the doubles point, the Owls rallied to take the first, third, fourth, and sixth singles matches behind strong performances by Sevel, sophomore Juan Araoz, sophomore Eric Biscoveanu, and freshman Mark Wallner.

"This was a great win for us, It's great to beat the host team on their home court," said head coach Steve Mauro. "I'm really happy for Thomas Sevel. He came up huge for us to clinch the match with his victory in the third set. He's had a great career and this a special moment for him."

The eight-seed Owls will face top-seed Memphis in tomorrow's quarterfinals at 9:00 a.m.
