Temple Golf Coach Brian Quinn Purchases 1912 Golf Club

PHILADELPHIA – Temple University golf coach Brian Quinn, through his 1912 LLC, has purchased the Plymouth Golf Club in Plymouth, Pa. and rebranded the course, The 1912 Club.  Quinn, who is in his 11th year as the Owls coach, will continue to utilize the course as the home for the Temple program.

"This is exciting news, not only for Temple Golf, but golf in the Philadelphia area," said Quinn. "The 1912 Club is proud to be a family-friendly club and we are excited about the renovations to improve our William S. Flynn championship golf course, clubhouse, banquet facility, tennis and swimming pool area."

The 1912 Club, named after the year of its founding, is a private golf course designed by Flynn, a prominent golf course architect during the early part of the 20th century. Among Flynn's most notable works are the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club on Long Island, Cherry Hills Country Club, Lancaster Country Club, and his work at the Merion Golf Club.

The 1912 Club offers a beautiful 18–Hole Championship Golf Course with a 30,000 square foot Clubhouse that includes two dining rooms, the casual 1912 Room, and event and banquet capacities from 10 to 300 people. Other amenities include a fully provisioned golf shop, practice facilities with driving range, chipping area and putting green, a swimming pool and tennis courts.

The 1912 Club also has another former Temple great on staff, tennis instructor Fazal Syed.  Ranked among the Top 400 singles and Top 250 doubles players in the world during his professional career, Syed was the Owls' top player during his collegiate career (1994-98).  He was recently honored as the 2017 USTA Middle States Professional of the Year.

Besides serving as the home course for Temple Golf, The 1912 Club will be the new home for the Owl Club Golf Outing.  The Owl Club Golf Outing, scheduled for Friday, June 1 at 9 a.m., will include great food and prizes as well as an opportunity to meet coaches from Temple Athletics.  For sponsorship opportunities, call the Temple Owl Club at 215-204-CLUB.  Additional details on participating in the outing will be announced shortly.
