Women's Rowing Finishes Successful Kelly Cup

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's rowing team finished first or second in all five races they entered, completing a successful day at the 2018 Kelly Cup. The Owls grabbed gold in the 2V8, 3V8, and 2V4, while earning silver in the V8, V4, and 3V4.
VARSITY EIGHT
> In the Kelly Cup, it came down to a photo finish between frontrunners Temple and Drexel.
> The Dragons were able to hold on by the slimmest of margins, finishing just a half second ahead of the Owls.
> Temple's time out-paced Villanova, Jefferson, and Saint Joseph's in the race.
SECOND VARSITY EIGHT
> Temple grabbed gold in a tight second varsity eight race, as the Owls recorded a time of 6:33.3, ahead of the four-boat field.
> Drexel took second in 6:34.5, while Villanova (6:46.6) and Saint Joseph's (6:59.0) followed.
VARSITY FOUR
> The Owls finished second overall in the varsity four race, just off the pace of Drexel's 7:17.4.
> Temple's 7:23.1 topped Jefferson (7:30.3), Saint Joseph's (7:30.9) and Villanova (7:40.9).
THIRD VARSITY EIGHT
> Temple won the third varsity race by nearly five seconds.
> The Owls were the only crew to break seven minutes, as Temple recorded a 6:58.9 to defeat Villanova (7:03.3), Saint Joseph's (7:05.5), and Drexel (7:18.3).
SECOND VARSITY FOUR
> It was a 1-2 finish for Temple in the second varsity four race.
> Both the Temple "A" boat (7:22.5) and "B" boat (7:48.8) outpaced Drexel (7:54.9) and Jefferson (8:00.3).

> The Owls will race at next weekend's Eastern Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond.
