PHILADELPHIA - Ten Temple football players earned preseason All-American Athletic Conference honors by Athlon Sports' annual publication. Temple received the third-most selections (12) of AAC teams.
The Owls received three first team selections: junior LB Shaun Bradley, who recorded 85 tackles last season, senior SAF Delvon Randall, who recorded four interceptions and 6.5 tackles for a loss last year, and junior WR Isaiah Wright was given first team honors as a punt returner, while also receiving fourth team honors as a kick returner.
Temple received two second team selections: senior RB Ryquell Armstead, who rushed for 604 yards last year with five rushing touchdowns, and redshirt sophomore DE Quincy Roche, who forced three fumbles, recovered one fumble, and recorded seven sacks last year.
There were three third team selections for Temple: Wright, who caught 46 passes for 664 receiving yards and four touchdown receptions, redshirt sophomore C Matt Hennessy, a staple in the middle of the Owls' offensive line, and junior K Aaron Boumerhi, who converted a career-long 52-yard field goal last year.
Finally, the Owls received four fourth team selections: redshirt junior OL Jovahn Fair, another staple of Temple's offensive line, who missed more than half of last season due to injury, redshirt sophomore DL Dan Archibong, who recorded two-and-a-half tackles for a loss, two sacks and three pass breakups last year, junior LB Sam Franklin, who recorded 59 tackles last year with nine-and-a-half tackles for a loss, six pass breakups and four sacks, and Wright.
Wright was the only player on the list to appear three times - as a wide receiver, kick returner, and punt returner. He was also the only player to appear as both a kick and punt returner. Last season, Wright became the sixth player in the last 10 years to score five different ways during a season: kick return, punt return, rushing, receiving, and passing (two-point conversion)
