were honored for their achievements both on the water and in the classroom, as two of nine named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team. The team is nominated and voted on by the sports information offices of 30 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
Baldo recently graduated from Temple with a degree in advertising, and is a two-time member of the Academic All-Area team. The six seat in Temple's heavyweight eight, he also served as team captain this year. Baldo's boat won the 2018 Dad Vail Regatta in record time, breaking a 14 year winless streak for the Owls in the marquee event. His crew also grabbed gold at the San Diego Crew Classic, while earning silver at the Bergen Cup and bronze at the Kerr Cup. Baldo will make the trip to England to compete with the Owls at the famed Henley Royal Regatta in July.
Stewart is a junior environmental studies major who sat five seat in Temple's lightweight eight this season. He was named the Owls' lightweight MVP, after helping to lead Temple to gold at the San Diego Crew Classic and bronze at the 2018 Dad Vail Regatta.
In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better.
