Women’s Tennis Downs Hampton 6-1 in Season Opener

NORFOLK, Va.— Temple women's tennis opened up its 2019 slate in a dominant fashion, notching a 6-1 victory over Hampton.

> The Owls are 1-0 in the 2019 season after defeating the Hampton Pirates in Norfolk, Va.
> Temple had a strong showing in doubles play, sweeping Hampton. The pairs of Chunan Xiang/Ruoyu Chen and Alice Patch/Oyku Boz both downed their opponents, 6-2. The duo of Kristina Titova/Stefaniya Surikova prevailed 6-0.
> The team followed its doubles performance with impressive singles play, only dropping one match to the Pirates. Yining Tian and Boz each defeated their opponents, 6-0, 6-0. Xiang clinched her match 4-6, 6-0, 6-0 over Hampton's Cherise Slocombe and Cecilia Castelli dominated her opponent 6-1, 6-1. Patch came out on top over Haley Mullins, 6-3, 6-2.
