senior guard Shizz Alston, Jr.
was named to the American Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Honor Roll for the week ending January 6. It is Alston's third time on the AAC Honor Roll and has has also been named AAC co-Player of the Week twice.
For the week the Owls' co-captain averaged 20 points, three assists, 1.5 steals in a 1-1 week. In an 85-81 overtime win at Wichita State Sunday, Alston scored the final seven (of his team-high 22 points) for Temple, including a three as the shot clock expired, to lift the Owls to lift the team to an improbable comeback victory. Before the overtime period, he made the basket to tie the game in regulation, capping an 11-0 run over final 3:35. In a 78-73 road loss to UCF on Jan. 2, he scored 18 points and dished three assists.
On the year, Alston leads the AAC in scoring (19.4 ppg.) and minutes played (36.9 mpg.), while ranking third in the conference in assists (5.1 apg.), free throw percentage (.917) and three-pointers made (3.1 apg.).
