PHILADELPHIA — The Temple crew team kicked off the fall season competing at the 2019 Navy Day Regatta on Saturday on the Schuylkill River.
Pairs
> Temple's George Torvik and Djoume Traore tallied a fourth place finish, clocking in at 15:54.28.
Heavyweight Fours
> The Owls placed three boats in the top 10, racing in a 29-boat field. Temple's "C" boat was its highest finisher, taking 5th in 13:50.18, while the "A" crew took seventh in 13:56.71.
> Temple's "D" boat was ninth overall in 14:07.78, while the "B" boat nabbed 11th, clocking in at 14:12.83.
Lightweight Fours
> Temple's lightweight four finish fifth overall, finishing the course in 14:06.51.
Freshmen Eight
> Temple's top rookies finished just out the medals, taking fourth place overall in 12:37.42.
> The Owls' "B" boat finished 12th overall, clocking in at 14:11.21.
Varsity Eight
> Temple's top boat nabbed a fifth place finish, finishing behind boats from Navy (A&B), Marist, and Drexel. The Owls' "A" crew finished in 12:15.73, less than a second off of the Dragon's pace.
> Temple's "B" boat finished in 11th place in a time of 12:54.12, in the field of 31 strong.
Lightweight Eight
> The Owls took ninth place in the lightweight eight event, recording a tie of 12:37.43.

> Temple will head up to Boston to compete in the famed Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday, October 20.
