ORLANDO—Temple men's soccer took on No. 5 UCF on its home turf in the AAC Championship semifinals on Wednesday evening, ultimately falling to the top-seeded Knights, 5-0.
How It Happened
> The Owls had their first threatening chance of the evening in the eighth minute. Freshman Sean Karani drew a foul just outside the box to set up a dangerous free kick opportunity for the Owls. Senior Leandros Lillis took the set piece and fired a rocket toward the upper 90, but the shot bent just wide.
> UCF got on the board first in the 20th minute as Itzik Efraim found the back of the net.
> Senior keeper Simon Lefebvre came up big for the Owls in the 25th minute to stop a formidable Knights attempt. Lefebvre stepped off his line to thwart a threatening UCF opportunity.
> The Knights tallied two more scores in the 30th and 35th minutes to increase their advantage to three.
> The Cherry and White strung together some promising chances in the second half to challenge the UCF defense. Their best opportunity came in the 58th minute when Karani found senior captain Lukas Fernandes on the left flank. Fernandes sent a great ball to the feet of Lillis who was positioned right in front of the net, but the play was called offside.
> UCF's Cal Jennings completed his hat trick with goals in the 68th and 73rd minutes to put the Knights up, 5-0.
