Hee Takes Sabre Title at Temple Open

PHILADELPHIA - Senior Malia Hee earned the sabre title at the Temple Open Saturday afternoon, with her first-place finish being the highest for the Owls. It was the first meet of the season for Temple, with six fencers placing in the top 10 and 11 placing in the top 15.

Meet Results
> Senior Kennedy Lovelace led the foil squad, tying fifth-place to best her sixth-place finish in last year's Temple Open. Sophomore Aryana Abtin earned a ninth-place finish while Megan Ross rounded out the foilists in 11th place.
> Junior Marielle Luke earned a seventh-place finish in epee to lead the Owls, coming in at 16 spots higher than her 23rd place finish last year.
> Sophomore Naomi Ross made her debut in cherry and white with a top 10 finish in epee, while freshman Margherita Calderaro nearly missed the top 10 after tying for an 11th place finish.
> Senior Camille Simmons tied for 13th place in epee while Sarah Park earned a 15th place finish in her first collegiate meet. Senior captain Quinn Duwelius earned a 33rd place finish.
> Hee earned a first-place finish with a score of 15-13, besting her second-place finish from last year.
> Kerry Plunkett earned a seventh-place finish in sabre, one spot higher than her finish last year, while Zoe Turner finished 13th in her first meet as an Owl.

Next Up
> The Owls will head to Milwaukee, Wisc. for the November NAC, with freshmen Zoe Turner, Sarah Park, and Margherita Calderaro making the trip. Temple will open team competition in two weeks, with the Elite Meet at Penn slated for Nov. 16.
