LAST WEEK
Against #19 Cincinnati, the Owls fought hard against the Bearcats in the rain and wintry mix that precipitated on Saturday night. It was a defensive battle for both sides that was also met with a lot of penalties and miscues. Temple held Cincinnati to just 210 total yards of offense and 62 passing yards in the contest. The defense held Cincinnati to six points in the first half. Despite the defensive effort, the offense couldn't get much going until the fourth quarter. The Owls trailed 13-0 heading into the fourth, but scored on the first drive of the quarter on a seven yard rushing touchdown by RB Re'Mahn Davis. The ensuing extra-point was blocked and returned by Cincinnati for a two-point defensive PAT that proved to be the difference maker in the game. The defense continued to keep the Owls in the game, stopping Cincinnati's passing game and potent running attack. QB Desmond Ridder completed just nine passes for 62 yards and threw an interception to SAF Benny Walls. Temple forced five three-and-outs in the game and applied pressure up front all night. WR Jadan Blue was the go-to guy in the passing game, he had 13 catches for 120 yards on the day. He also broke the single-season receptions record and currently has 80 catches and will only improve that record against UConn. He is also eying down the single season receiving yards record that was set by Gerald Lucear in 1979 with 964 yards. Blue has 923 yards and three touchdowns in his breakout season. DE Quincy Roche had 1.5 sacks and seven tackles in the game. He is now LB Chapelle Russell had 11 tackles and two TFLs and LB Shaun Bradley had nine tackles and a forced fumble.
