2019 Football Schedule Announced
2.7.19 | Football
PHILADELPHIA – Two nationally-televised games, seven home contests, and visits from last season's American Athletic Conference division champions, UCF and Memphis, highlight Temple's 2019 football schedule, announced today by the American Athletic Conference.
First-year head coach Rod Carey takes the helm of the Owls and looks to return Temple to the AAC Championship game after a two-year absence. He also looks to extend the current streak of four straight bowl appearances. Temple has been bowl eligible for five straight seasons and eight of the last 10.
"I am really excited to lead the Temple Football program and look forward to continuing its proud Temple TUFF tradition," said Carey.
Temple's schedule includes seven home and five road games. Two road games – at ECU (Oct. 3) and at USF (Nov. 7) – will take place on Thursday nights and be broadcast nationally on ESPN. Temple will officially have a bye week on the season's second and tenth weeks (Sept. 7 and Nov. 2).
The non-conference schedule starts and ends in the first five weeks of the season. The Owls will host Bucknell on Saturday, August 31, and then take on Maryland and Georgia Tech - sandwiched by a trip to Buffalo. Interestingly, after the first two games of the season, Temple never plays consecutive games at home or on the road. Former Temple head coach Geoff Collins returns to the Linc to lead Georgia Tech against the Owls on Saturday, September 28.
Temple then begins its AAC slate of games with a nationally-televised trip to ECU on Thursday, October 3. Coming off a 7-1 conference record a year ago, the Owls will look for a return to the AAC Championship game that they played in both 2015-16 and won in 2016. For the fifth straight year, the American Athletic Conference will hold a Conference Championship Game set for Saturday, December 7, 2019.
2019 Temple Football season tickets will go on sale this month. Call the Temple Ticket Sales Office at 215-204-TIXX for more information.
