Irving, Texas - The National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame announced today the members of the 2019 NFF Hampshire Honor Society, which is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers. An all-time high of 1,643 players from a record 424 schools qualified for membership in the Society's 13th year. Temple graduates, QB Frank Nutile and TE Chris Myarick, were among the players that qualified and made the honor society.
"We are pleased to see another record number of athletes honored by the Hampshire Honor Society this year," said NFF President & CEOÂ Steve Hatchell. "For more than a decade, it has become a powerful vehicle for schools to recognize their college football players who have distinguished themselves both academically and athletically, and we congratulate the schools and each of these young men for their commitment to excellence in all aspects of their lives." Nutile was a leader for the Owls in the locker room and in the classroom. He graduated in the summer 2018 with a degree in accounting and went on to pursue his masters in innovation management and entrepreneurship. He earned a single-digit jersey for his hard work and toughness going into his final season. An injury kept Nutile out for most of the season, but he continued to lead the Owls. In 2017, Nutile earned Gasparilla Bowl MVP honors after throwing and rushing for a touchdown in a 28-3 win over FIU. He earned President's Honor Roll in 2015 and 2016, AAC All-Academic Team in 2014 and 2015, and Athletic Director's Honor Roll in 2014. He finished his career with 2,225 passing yards, 17 touchdowns and a 60% completion rate.
Myarick was also a leader for the Owls on the field and in the classroom. He graduated with a degree in marketing going into his final season and then began to pursue his master in innovation management and entrepreneurship. Myarick was an AAC All-Academic Team member from 2014-2016, a 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America nominee, and an Athletic Director's Honor Roll member from 2014-2016. A former walk-on, his hard work was rewarded with a scholarship in 2017. Myarick finished his career playing in 43 games. He caught 23 passes for 229 yards and a touchdown along with leading the way for Temple running back Ryquell Armstead to rush for over 1,000 yards and 13 touchdowns his senior season.
