Ya-Sin Drafted by the Indianapolis Colts

PHILADELPHIA – The Indianapolis Colts selected Temple's Rock Ya-Sin (Decatur, Georgia) in the second round of the 2019 National Football League Draft on Friday evening. He was the 34th overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, the first for the Colts and the first for Temple.
Temple has had at least one player drafted in four straight seasons for the first time since 1989. Temple has now produced an NFL-caliber defensive back in each of the past four years - Ya-Sin, Sean Chandler (N.Y. Giants, 2018), Nate Hairston (Indianapolis, 2017), and Tavon Young (Baltimore, 2016).
Following three seasons at Presbyterian and one season with the Temple Owls, Ya-Sin finished his collegiate career appearing in 45 games and starting in 35. He played and started in 12 games with the Owls and was a force to be reckoned with in the AAC. The first team all-conference corner tallied 47 tackles, two TFLs, 12 PBUs, and two interceptions with the Owls. In his entire collegiate career, Ya-Sin tallied 142 tackles, five TFLs, seven interceptions, 31 PBUs, and three fumble recoveries. Ya-Sin's senior performance earned him a trip to the Reese's Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine.
Ya-Sin is the 72nd Temple football player to be drafted into the NFL. He joins Robby Anderson (New York Jets), Cole Boozer (Tampa Bay), Sean Chandler (New York Giants), Dion Dawkins (Buffalo), Sharif Finch (Tennessee), Kyle Friend (Cleveland), Nate Hairston (Indianapolis), Matt Ioannidis (Washington), Keith Kirkwood (New Orleans), Jacob Martin (Seattle), Tyler Matakevich (Pittsburgh), Brandon McManus (Denver), Haason Reddick (Arizona), Jullian Taylor (San Francisco), Phillip Walker (Indianapolis), Tahir Whitehead (Oakland), Muhammad Wilkerson (Green Bay), and Tavon Young (Baltimore) as former Owls currently active in the NFL.
