Weather Shortens Weekend Racing for Women's Rowing

PHILADELPHIA -- Weather shortened the weekend racing plan for the Temple women's rowing team, as the Owls competed with split squads. NCAA boats raced in Raleigh, N.C. at the Lake Wheeler Invite, while other boats competed back home on the Schuylkill.
Lake Wheeler Invitational
> Originally scheduled for two days with three rounds of racing, the event was shortened to just heats and finals on Saturday.
> Temple's varsity eight won the third level final in 6:35.069 a photo finish, ahead of Miami by just .2 (6:35.269) and UNC (6:40.181).
> The second varsity eight took second in the petite final, just behind Clemson (6:38.844), with their time of 6:41.253 ahead of Navy (6:44.531).
> The Owls' varsity four had the highest finish of the day, winning the petite final in 7:31.30, over Michigan State (7:32.70) and Navy (7:50.50).
> As a team, Temple finished sixth of nine schools, amassing 39 total points, despite only racing in three of the five categories.
Kelly Cup
> Temple won the only event contested at the Kelly Cup, as high winds canceled the rest of the Regatta.
> The Owls' third varsity "B" boat won the 3V race, topping SJU and Drexel by open water.
