PHILADELPHIA - Adam Miller, a veteran athletics development professional, has been named the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Development at Temple University, announced Director of Athletics Dr. Patrick Kraft.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Adam Miller and his wife Kristin to the Temple Athletics family," said Kraft. "Adam comes to Temple with a track record for success and is very familiar with the University having worked most recently at AAC member school Memphis. He is not only a highly successful fundraiser, but has a great passion for supporting student-athletes. His energy and commitment to excellence will fit very well within our department and with our donor base."
"I am thrilled to join the staff at Temple University," said Miller.  "The athletics department has a dynamic leader in Dr. Patrick Kraft and a talented staff that ensures an outstanding experience for Temple student-athletes and fans. I look forward to working with Temple's loyal alumni, fans and community partners. It is a great time to be an Owl and I am excited to be a part of the team. I would like to thank Dr. Kraft, Jim Cawley and Jeremy Wang for this opportunity."
Miller comes to Temple having served the previous three years at Memphis, the last two in the role of Associate Athletics Director for Development. While at Memphis, he led the Tiger Scholarship Fund team that raised over $20 million in annual gifts since July 2016. He also oversaw the most successful fundraising year in Tiger Scholarship Fund history, with $8.2 million raised in 2017-18.Â
An innovative leader, Miller created "Sponsor a Student-Athlete" initiative at Memphis, which has helped generate $1.3 million to date, including over $500,000 in new dollars, and the Tigers' #NextStep initiative, which generated over $600,000 in additional gifts from existing donors.
As part of the Memphis development team, he helped raise over $50 million in his short time at the University.Â
Prior to Memphis, Miller served two years in the athletic development office at Wisconsin-Green Bay. He served as a member of the department's senior executive staff and was responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive development plan and overseeing all fundraising efforts. He also oversaw the two most successful fundraising years in the program's history. He also helped complete a nearly $5 million outdoor athletics facilities campaign and increased by 37% the annual giving to the Phoenix Fund.Â
Miller came to Green Bay from his alma mater, Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Fla., where he excelled in a variety of development positions. Miller served as the Director of Development for both the athletics department and Barney Barnett School of Business. Prior to that role, Miller worked at Florida Southern as the Coordinator of the Annual Fund and Athletic Giving and the Assistant Director for Major and Athletic Giving.
During the 2012-13 academic year, Miller was part of a team that had, at the time, the most successful fundraising year in the history of Florida Southern College.
Miller was a standout on and off the field during his time as a student-athlete at Florida Southern. While obtaining a 4.0 grade point average in the classroom in his undergraduate and graduate studies, Miller competed for the Mocs' baseball team. He was named the Florida Southern Most Outstanding Scholar Athlete in 2009 and earned the Scholar Athlete Award for baseball in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
In 2009, Miller graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in business administration. In 2011, he obtained a master's degree in business administration and finished first in a class of 142 students.
