Mark Wallner Named to Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men’s Tennis Team

PHILADELPHIA - Temple sophomore Mark Wallner is one of six student-athletes selected to the 2019 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Tennis Team. The team is voted on by the sports information offices of 30 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area. 

In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area, an athlete must be in his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better.

Wallner, a native of Germany and a finance major with a 3.89 GPA, was ranked as high as No. 20 in nation in doubles this past season with partner Alberto Caceres Casas. The pair went 17-3 on the season at first doubles, and Waller amassed a singles record of 18-2 on courts one through five, mainly playing on court two. Against conference opponents, he was a perfect 5-0. 

For his academic achievements, Wallner was also named to President's Honor Roll.

Wallner is joined on the team by Performer of the Year Josh Moskovitz of Haverford, Kevin Yan of Haverford, Zach Brock of Bryn Athyn, Jesus Darias from Chestnut Hill and Michael Litz of Penn State-Abington.
