9.13.19 | Women's Soccer

PHILADELPHIA—Temple women's soccer (1-3-2, 0-0 AAC) will travel to Lawrenceville, N.J. on Sunday, Sept. 15 to face the Rider Broncs. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at Ben Cohen Field.

Owl About Us
> The Cherry and White are led by head coach Seamus O'Connor, who is in his seventh season at the helm of the program.
> Temple is captained by junior Julia Dolan and seniors Morgan Basileo, Emily Keitel and Molly Tobin.
> A slew of players have contributed to Temple's offensive efforts this season. Five different Owls are tied with one goal apiece: Marissa DiGenova, Morgan Morocco, Gabriela Johnson, Bella Sorrentino and Emma Wilkins. DiGenova, Johnson, Morocco and Hailey Gutowski have dished out an assist as well. At the top of the points list with three are DiGenova, Johnson and Morocco, as they each have tallied one goal and one assist.
> Basileo has been a mainstay in the net for the Owls, notching 47 saves through 580 minutes of play. She has tallied double-digit saves twice this season (8/22 at Wake Forest, 9/12 at Maryland). Basileo also leads the American with an average of 7.83 saves/game.

Last Time Out
> Temple came from behind and forced overtime in its Thursday night matchup against the Maryland Terrapins, which ultimately ended in a 1-1 draw.
> Maryland got on the board first in the 37th minute, but Temple picked up its attacking intensity in the second half, relentless pursuing an equalizer. The Owls' efforts paid off in the final minute of regulation, as Gutowski sparked the attack and found DiGenova in the box. One-on-one with the keeper, DiGenova took one touch and buried the ball in the back of the net to tie up the match, 1-1.
> In overtime, Temple had several quality golden goal opportunities, but the best chance game in the final moments of the second overtime period. DiGenova fired a blazing free kick on goal that bounced off the cross bar and down toward the goal line. Morocco got her head on the ricochet and directed it on frame, but it was collected by the Maryland goalkeeper.
> Basileo had another huge game between the posts. She posted 10 saves and made numerous athletic plays to stop threatening Maryland opportunities.

Scouting the Broncs
> Rider (3-2-1) is led Drayson Hounsome who is in his 12th season as head coach of the Broncs.
