Fencing Heads to Northwestern for Multi Meet

PHILADELPHIA - The No. 7 Temple fencing team will head to the Windy City for the Northwestern Multi Meet, facing 10 teams over two days.
The Owls are back in action after a weekend off, going 4-2 at the Philadelphia Invitational two weeks ago. Temple defeated several top competitors, including No. 10 Penn, No. 9 Northwestern, and No. 1 Notre Dame.Â
Senior Kerry Plunkett led the team in wins, going 13-1 on the day. Fellow sabrists Zoe Turner and Malia Hee went 10-4 and 10-5, respectively, and the sabre squad went undefeated.Â
Kennedy Lovelace led the foil squad at 11-7, while Margherita Calderaro went 10-5 to lead an epee squad that saw every epeeist have a winning record.
Temple is 15-5 in team competition this year and will face four teams for the second time this season. Saturday's matches will be against Stanford, Princeton, Cornell, UC San Diego, and Fairleigh Dickinson. On Sunday, the Owls will fence Northwestern, Lawrence, Air Force, Denison, and Ohio State.Â
Bouts will begin at 8:30 a.m. on both days and will last all day.
