Owls for Justice Patch Debuts on Temple Football Uniforms
10.10.20 | Football, General
PHIILADELPHIA – When watching the Temple-Navy football game Saturday evening, look for a diamond shaped patch on the right side of the front of the Owls' uniforms.
This patch, bearing the initials BLM on top and OFJ on the bottom, was created by the newly formed student-athlete organization, Owls for Justice. BLM stands for Black Lives Matter while OFJ represents the name of the organization, Owls for Justice.
The patch will be worn by all 19 Temple varsity sports during the 2020-21 season, either on uniforms when possible, or warm up gear.
"I am extremely proud of our student-athletes for coming together so quickly over the summer during a pandemic to form Owls for Justice," said Temple's Acting Director of Athletics Fran Dunphy. "I applaud their efforts in this cause to shine a spotlight on social and racial injustice in the hopes of affecting change."
