Owls in the NFL - Week 11
11.23.20 | Football
PHILADELPHIA – Heading into Thanksgiving week, 12 former Owls saw action in the NFL, which saw several newer faces playing big roles for their teams.
On Thursday night, Arizona linebacker Haason Reddick (2013-16) and defensive lineman Michael Dogbe (2015-18) faced off against the Seattle Seahawks in a close battle, which Seattle ended up winning 28-21. Reddick played every defensive snap for the Cardinals and had five tackles on the night. Dogbe, who was called up from the practice squad this week, sacked Russell Wilson in the second quarter for his first career sack.
Carolina and head coach Matt Rhule broke their losing streak as they defeated the Detroit Lions 20-0, the Panthers first shutout since December 2015. Quarterback Phillip Walker (2013-16) was thrust into the starting QB role with an injury to Teddy Bridgewater, making him only the second Temple quarterback to start a game in the NFL, joining Henry Burris, who started a game for the Chicago Bears in 2002.
Walker made the most of his first career start, which was also the first ever win by a starting Temple quarterback in the NFL. Walker completed 24 passes on 34 attempts for 258 yards, all the most by a former Owl in an NFL game. Walker also added a 17-yard passing touchdown to D.J. Moore in the third quarter, the first touchdown of his career.
Indianapolis cornerback Rock Ya-Sin (2018) recorded his first interception of the year off Aaron Rodgers in a 34-31 overtime win over Green Bay. Ya-Sin also added four tackles and played on over 90% of the defensive snaps in the game.
Rookie Owls continue to see time on NFL fields. Washington wide receiver Isaiah Wright (2016-19) had a seven-yard reception in a 20-9 victory against Cincinnati, Philadelphia linebacker Shaun Bradley (2016-19) saw significant action on special teams in a 22-17 loss to Cleveland, and Minnesota cornerback Harrison Hand (2019) saw action on special teams in a 31-28 loss to Dallas.
On Monday night, Tampa Bay head coach Bruce Arians and linebacker Chapelle Russell (2016-19) lost a close primetime battle to the Los Angeles Rams 27-24. Russell saw action on special teams in the loss.

Seven of Walker's completions were to his Temple teammate Robby Anderson (2011-13, 2015), who had 46 receiving yards on the day, including an 18-yard catch from Walker. Anderson now has 71 receptions this season, the 4th most in the NFL. Tight end Colin Thompson (2014-16) helped to block Walker throughout the game and was on the field blocking for Mike Davis' rushing touchdown in the first quarter.Drop. it. in. pic.twitter.com/lD8mS8gG3B
