Men’s Basketball Hosts UConn Thursday on Student-Athlete Recognition Night

PHILADELPHIA – Temple (13-12, 5-7 AAC) will honor its student-athletes for their success in the classroom at halftime of the team's men's game against UConn (14-11, 5-7 AAC) on Thursday (7 pm/ESPN2/1210 AM WPHT). The Owls will also be looking to continue its recent two-game AAC win streak in a battle between the teams which are tied for seventh in the conference standings.

> Temple, under the direction of head coach Aaron McKie, features a balanced attack with seven players averaging 5.8 ppg or more.
> Senior guard Quinton Rose leads Temple (2nd AAC) in scoring (16.4 ppg), assists (3.6 apg/9th AAC) and steals (2.0 spg/3rd AAC). Rose, who is also the AAC's all-time leader in points (1,763) and steals (210), is the only players to rank in the Top 10 in the conference in these categories.
> Junior guard Nate Pierre-Louis leads Temple in rebounding (8.2 rpg/5th AAC) and steals (2.0/ t-4th AAC), while ranking second in scoring (11.4 ppg) and assists (3.0 apg).
> Senior Alani Moore II (8.5 ppg) has doubled his offensive output from last year (4.1 ppg) and is second in the AAC in threes per game (2.2) and seventh in three-point percentage (.396).
> Rounding out the starting five are sophomore Jake Forrester (8.4 ppg/4.1 rpg) and junior Justyn Hamilton (3.7 ppg). Junior J.P. Moorman II (5.8 ppg), who ranks second on the team in rebounding (5.2 rpg), has started 23 games.
> Junior De'Vondre Perry (614 ppg), who is 5th in the AAC in three-point percentage (.408), redshirt junior Monty Scott (6.1 ppg) and freshman Josh Pierre-Louis (4.3 ppg) have provided the most impact from the Owls' deep bench.

> UConn, under the direction of head coach Dan Hurley, are led by senior Christian Vital, who tops the team in scoring (14.5 ppg) and the conference in steals (2.4 spg) and free throw percentage (.908).
> Freshman James Booknight (12.2 ppg) is the only other Huskie averaging double figures while redshirt junior Alterique Gilbert (8.6 ppg) and junior Josh Carlton (8.2 ppg/6.6 rpg) are not far behind. Gilbert leads UConn and ranks fourth in the conference in assists per game (4.1 apg).
> UConn will be without the services of redshirt freshman Akok Akok (5.8 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 2.6 bpg), who suffered a season-ending injury in their win over Memphis.
> The Huskies have won four of their last six games with the current stretch starting with a home win over the Owls, 78-63, on Jan. 29.
