Three Owls Earn AAC Weekly Honors

PHILADELPHIA - Three Temple lacrosse players have earned American Conference weekly honors, with Belle Mastropietro being named Freshman of the Week, Kara Nakrasius being named Defensive Player of the Week, and Bridget Whitaker being tabbed to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll.

Mastropietro recorded seven goals last week, with five coming at Columbia in her second-straight five-goal game. She fired 11 shots with nine on target, and posted two assists while picking up four ground balls, two caused turnovers, and three draw controls. The Springfield, Pa. native leads the team with 17 goals this season, and is third in draw controls (26). 

Nakrasius posted 10 draw controls for a total of 42 this season to lead the team. She ranks third in the conference in draw controls per game (5.25) and ground balls per game (2.5). The Garnet Valley, Pa. native picked up five ground balls and two caused turnovers last week.

Whitaker, being named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll for the third time this season, recorded three goals and one assist against UMBC on Saturday. She fired 10 shots with five on goal last week, picking up seven draw controls, three ground balls, and one caused turnover. The Springfield, Pa. native is second on the team with 30 draw controls, and is tied for second in goals this season (13).

The Owls will return to the field for a two-game road stretch, heading to Big 5 rival Villanova Wednesday before heading to Mount St. Mary's on Saturday.
