Hee Earns 2020 Academic All-District® Honors

5.21.20 | Women's Fencing

PHILADELPHIA - Temple fencing senior Malia Hee has been named to the 2020 First Team Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Team, as announced by CoSIDA Thursday afternoon. The award is the latest on Hee's impressive list of honors in her final season on Broad Street, with the saberist most recently being named a second-team All-America selection by the USFCA.

This season's sabre squad captain, Hee was the sabre wins leader for the season with 62. Her career total of 235 tied with fellow senior Kerry Plunkett to set the record in all-time sabre wins. Hee had a team-best second-place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional, earning a spot at the NCAA Championships which were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hee finished the semester with a 3.96 cumulative GPA as an advertising major, and was named to the Trustee Ten list for the second year in a row for having one of the 10 highest GPAs of any Temple student-athlete. She was also named to the 2019-20 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area At-Large Team last month.

The 2020 Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. The Vancouver, Wash., native is now eligible to advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced from June 16-19.
