Football’s Maijeh Tabbed Preseason All-America by Phil Steele

7.15.20 | Football

PHILADELPHIA – In his annual 2020 College Football Preview released this week, respected author Phil Steele named Temple redshirt junior defensive tackle Ifeanyi Maijeh to his All-America team. Maijeh was named to Steele's fourth team joining just two other American Athletic Conference members (Navy's Diego Fagot and UCF's Aaron Robinson) on the 44-man defensive squad.

Maijeh had a breakout season in 2019 with career-bests in tackles (52), TFLs (10.0) and sacks (6.5) earning first team All-American Athletic Conference honors. He used his quick hands and explosive first step to notch at least a partial sack in each of the first six games. By midseason, the Far Rockaway, N.Y., native's play warranted constant double-teams opening up pass rushing lanes for teammate Quincy Roche who collected 10.0 sacks in November, on his way to AAC Defensive Player of the Year.

Roche, now at Miami, was named to Steele's second team defensive unit.

Earlier this week, Steele tabbed 11 Temple Football players to his All-American Athletic Conference teams. Maijeh was the lone first-teamer. Wide receiver Jadan Blue, offensive lineman Vincent Picozzi, and linebacker Isaiah Graham-Mobley earned second-team designations. The third-team placed running back Re'Mahn Davis, wide receiver Branden Mack, and offensive lineman Isaac Moore, along with defensive tackle Daniel Archibong and linebacker William Kwenkeu. Cornerback Christian Braswell and kicker Will Mobley round out the fourth-team.
