Temple Athletics Launches the “Fly With Us” Campaign

PHILADELPHIA – In partnership with the Temple Owl Club, and in response to the significant financial challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, Temple Athletics has launched the "Fly With Us" Campaign. This fundraising campaign will support the more than 500 student-athletes who compete in the Cherry and White, while addressing increased costs and financial shortfalls to the athletics department.
The "Fly With Us" campaign celebrates the Temple student-athlete experience and implores Owl fans to help Temple Athletics safeguard its promise to the Student-Athlete Commitment in the areas of academic excellence, athletic excellence, civic engagement, holistic development, and career development.
"First, we would like to thank all of our generous supporters who have already stepped up to assist during this unprecedented time. Whatever the need, our alumni, fans and donors have always been there to help our student-athletes succeed, on the field of play and in the classroom," said Acting Director of Athletics Fran Dunphy. "Now, more than ever, we need you to help as we strive to remain competitive while expenses, especially ones directly related to the pandemic, rise at record rate and revenues have been reduced greatly. So please "Fly With Us" as we navigate through this worldwide crisis."
With sizable projected losses, this campaign will support numerous areas in the athletics department, including required COVID-19 testing, additional eligibility, strength and conditioning, and budget subsidization. This campaign is focused on gifts that are above and beyond annual support to the Temple Owl Club and Temple Athletics.
As a department, all programs and departments have instituted a 5% reduction in budgets as well as other cost containment measures.
