PHILADELPHIA - The Temple fencing program will stay on North Broad for their first competition of the season, hosting the 41st Annual Temple Open on Oct. 23-24. All women's competition will take place on Saturday, while the men's competition will take place on Sunday.

For the 41st year, Owls will host the Temple Open in the Liacouras Center. Nearly 500 fencers from nearly 30 schools will compete at the event, and it is the largest collegiate fencing competition in the nation. Last year's event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The women's events will begin Saturday at 8:30 a.m. and will conclude at 6 p.m. The men's events will follow the same schedule and will take place the following day.

Temple had a solid performance in the 2019 Temple Open, with Malia Hee taking home the sabre title. Kennedy Lovelace topped the foil squad, earning a sixth-place finish while Marielle Luke led the foilists with a seventh-place finish.

Only eight Owls have seen competition at the Temple open, with Naomi Ross (epee) placing in the top-10 and Margherita Calderaro (epee) finishing 11th in their first season in Cherry and White.

The Temple Open is one of just two chances Owl fans have to see their team on campus. In late February, the Temple Invitational in McGonigle Hall will close out the regular season for Temple.
