Five to Fence at North American Cup

PHILADELPHIA - In the first national competition of the year for the Owls, five fencers are set to compete at the October North American Cup. Naomi Ross, Margherita Calderaro, Sarah Park, Zoe Turner, and Eva Ventura will head to St. Louis, Mo. for the event.
This is the second competition of the season, with Temple hosting the 41st annual Temple Open last weekend. Turner led the way for the Cherry and White, taking home the silver medal in sabre as the team's highest finish.Â
Ventura (sabre) fell 15-10 to Sky Miller of Northwestern in the Round of 16 to earn a 12th-place finish in her debut as an Owl, while Park (epee) finished 22nd and Calderaro (epee) finished 36th. Ross (epee) was at a Modern Penathlon national qualifying event and did not compete at the Temple Open.
The epeeists will begin competition on Friday at 1:30 p.m. while the saberists will begin competition on Sunday at 8 a.m.
