Michelle Joyce to Represent Temple at the NCAA Championships

11.19.21 | Women's Cross Country

PHILADELPHIA- Michelle Joyce has one race remaining in her illustrious cross country career. The fifth-year runner will be representing Temple at the NCAA Championships this Saturday, Nov. 20. Joyce has been a leader for the Cherry and White all season, finishing as the lead runner in five of their six races. Her season was highlighted by three top-3 finishes at the Temple Invite, Iona Meet of Champions, and the AAC Championships; however, it was capped off with an 11th place finish at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals which cemented her spot to qualify for the NCAA Championships. Joyce will be the 1st Temple women's runner to compete in the NCAA Championships since Blanca Fernandez did in 2015.

From Head Coach James Snyder
  • "This is an exciting opportunity for Michelle and our program to be  competing on the biggest stage in our sport! The NCAA Cross Country Championship is a unique event that brings together the nation's top 31 teams and an additional 38 individuals on the same starting line. Michelle's been working toward this goal throughout her career and to see it come together for her in her final season of eligibility is just so special."
From the Players
  • "Michelle is the most driven and dedicated teammate I've ever had. She is always positive and never afraid to work hard and put it all out there. Over the last 5 years, I have seen her evolve so much as an athlete. I know how much representing Temple at the NCAA's means to her and she truly deserves this more than anyone" said teammate Helene Gottlieb.
  • Senior Sean Egan said, "In my time at Temple, Michelle has been an incredible example for everyone in the program. She's hard working, consistent, a great teammate, and an even better friend to everyone on the team. I'm so proud that she made it to NCAA's and am honored to have been her teammate for 4 years."
The NCAA Women's Championships Final will take place Saturday, Nov. 20 at 10:20 a.m. You can watch the action beginning at 10:00 a.m. on ESPNU & the ESPN App.
