Volleyball Defeated by UCF in Straight Sets

ORLANDO – The Temple Owls volleyball team had no answers for the American Conference leader, UCF Knights, on Friday night as they fell in straight sets, 14-25, 2-25, 17-25.
The Knights led from wire to wire in the match, not allowing the Owls to tie the score nor take the lead at any point.
RECAPPING THE MATCH
Set 1
- Three Knights, including Nerissa Moravec, McKenna Melville, and Ann-Marie Watson, notched four kills apiece in the 25-14 set one victory.
- Owls outside hitter Miray Bolukbasi matched the three Knights with a set-high four kills while hitting .429 on seven attempts.
Set 2
- UCF won the second set 25-2, ending the frame on a 15-0 run.
- The Knights held the Cherry and White to zero kills and a -.194 hitting percentage in the second set.
- The home team hit .407 during the stanza, while Melville added four putaways of her match-high 10.
Set 3
- Freshman Chelci Banks got the start in the third set for Temple as she sparked the team with a service ace and a kill while keeping the UCF lead to one point, 8-7.
- Later in the set, the Knights used a 5-0 run to extend their lead to 16-9 with a kill by Melville, Amber Olson, and Kathryn Wesolich.
- UCF would edge the Owls by a point (9-8) to close out the set and earn the 25-17 victory.
Overall, the Owls drop to 5-23 on the season and 1-16 in the American.
Temple will be back in action on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at the USF Bulls. The match will be be available on ESPN+.
