Khalif Battle to Miss Remainder of Season Due to Foot Injury

12.2.21 | Men's Basketball

PHILADELPHIA – Temple University sophomore guard Khalif Battle fractured the fifth metatarsal of his left foot in the Owls' win over La Salle Wednesday evening and will miss the remainder of season. He will have surgery next week and is expected to make a full recovery.

"I feel really bad for KB as he worked so hard in the offseason and was playing like one of the top guards in the country," said Temple men's basketball coach Aaron McKie. "He is a fighter and will be back to full strength next season.  Now it is next man up mentality for our program and I know our players will be ready."

Battle, who was named the AAC Player of the Week on Nov. 29, currently leads the American Athletic Conference in scoring (21.4 ppg) and has scored 20 or more points in five of the team's first seven games.  The Edison, N.J. native also leads the team in field goal percentage (.538/2nd AAC), three-point percentage (.488/1st AAC), threes per game (3.0/2nd AAC) and minutes per game (31.9 mpg/9th AAC).  He was also tied for fifth in scoring efficiency (1.19 points per possession) going into the La Salle game by Synergy Sports.
