Lacrosse Announces 2022 Schedule

12.20.21 | Women's Lacrosse

PHILADELPHIA - Following a fantastic 2021 that saw the program claim its first NCAA tournament victory since 1998, Temple lacrosse head coach Bonnie Rosen announced the team's schedule for a highly anticipated return to the field. The 2022 slate will feature eight home games, and a return to the standard AAC format after experimenting with a double round-robin slate last season.

Schedule
The Owls will open 2022 with two straight home matches, facing Army on Feb. 12 before hosting Villanova on Feb 16. The team will then embark on a four game road stretch, their longest of the season. The Owls begin with Big 5 rival Saint Joseph's on Feb. 26, they then take a week off before dueling Princeton.

The Cherry and White will continue their road trip against Kennesaw State (Mar. 2) and UMBC (Mar. 4), the game at Kennesaw State will be the first time Temple has ever played in Georgia. The Owls next begin a three-game homestand with matches against local rivals Delaware (Mar. 9) and Rutgers (Mar. 12) before welcoming west coast opponent UC Davis on Mar. 20. Temple rounds out the non-conference slate with a pair of road games against Monmouth on Mar. 23 and last year's national runner-up Syracuse on Mar. 26.

Temple will then charge into conference play with home bouts against Vanderbilt (Apr. 2) and Cincinnati (Apr. 9). One week later, the Cherry and White hit the road against East Carolina and reigning conference champion Florida (Apr. 23). The Owls close out their season against Old Dominion for senior day on Apr. 30.

The American Conference Tournament will be hosted by ECU, with the semifinals set for May 5 and the finals set for May 7.

Quotable
"This is an exciting and challenging schedule designed to build upon our success from last year and make our mark again on the national scene.  With three teams from the conference having played in the NCAA tournament last year, the AAC conference competitiveness has never been higher.  In addition, our non-conference will provide us with everything one could ask for in a schedule:  highly competitive, a mix of old rivalries and new opponents, a balance of home and away, and the ability to cross over several conferences and regions."
