Michelle Joyce Captures 2021 PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Honor

12.8.21 | Women's Cross Country

PHILADELPHIA, PA- Michelle Joyce was named to the 2021 Academic All-Area Women's Cross Country Team, selected by PhillSIDA. This award recognizes student-athletes for their combined excellence in competition and in the classroom.
 
For Joyce, this tops off an outstanding season and legacy that she will leave with Temple cross country. Her season was filled with outstanding finishes and was highlighted by three top-3 finishes at the Temple Invite, Iona Meet of Champions, and the AAC Championships. It was capped off with an 11th place finish at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals which cemented her spot to qualify for the NCAA Championships. Joyce represented the Owls well at the NCAA Championships, finishing in 141st place with a time of 20:44.9.
 
Joyce's excellence is not exclusive to the cross country trails as the bioengineering major maintains a 3.99 GPA. She was recognized as a Temple Trustee Ten for having one of the 10 highest GPAs among all Temple student-athletes while also picking up her fourth consecutive AAC All-Academic team honor.
