AUGUSTA, Kan. — Senior Michelle Joyce and freshman Léa Kerbiriou earned All-Conference finishes as the Temple women's cross country team finished fourth at the 2020 American Athletic Conference Championships.

About the AAC Championship
> Temple finished fourth out of 10 teams as they recorded 104 points at the race.
> Tulsa won their second-straight American as they collected 40 points for a first-place finish.
> Wichita State took second place while Cincinnati earned the third-place slot.
> Winny Koskei of Wichita took the first-place finish for the third-straight season.

Race Notes
> Joyce led the Owls with her time of 21:41.46 to earn her best-ever finish of ninth place. This is the third-straight year Joyce has earned All-Conference honors and she is the only woman in program history to do so.
> Kerbiriou followed closely behind for a 10th-place spot as she clocked in at 21:50.97. This marked the first time a Temple freshman has finished in the top 10 at the conference meet on both the men's and women's side.
> Temple's next finisher was Cat Shontz at 21st followed by Helene Gottlieb in 30th, Laura Nicholson in 37th, Emily Schuler in 40th and Emma Seifried in 45th.

From the Coach
> "It's a bit surreal with this being our first and likely final race of the cross country season," expressed head coach James Snyder. "I'm proud of how our ladies competed as we shook the dust off our spikes for the first time in almost a year. Michelle became the first woman in our program's history to earn All-Conference honors three times in a career, with ninth place this year being her best finish. Her consistency has been an intricate part of our program since she arrived and her growth into the leader of our distance team during this past year makes me incredibly proud."
> "Léa did a wonderful job racing patiently and progressing through the field to crack into the top 10, which is the best freshman finish we've ever had on the men's or women's side."
> "Our remaining scorers were able to find one another and work together for parts of the race but just didn't quite move up as much as we would have needed to break into that next tier of teams."
> "I know the ladies are incredibly excited to be competing again and we'll look to continue building momentum as we move through the spring semester's indoor and outdoor track seasons."
