Lacrosse Hosts St. Joseph’s to Round Out Non-Conference Schedule

ph's PHILADELPHIA- After a thrilling victory over No. 11 Towson Wednesday, the Temple lacrosse team will round out their non-conference slate with a visit from the St. Joseph's Hawks. The game will begin at Noon on Saturday and will be broadcasted on ESPN+.

SCOUTING TEMPLE
> Temple rebounded well from a loss to Drexel last week with a 12-8 win over No. 11 Towson Wednesday.
> Belle Mastropietro leads the team in goals with 14. She earned a hat trick in the first three matches of the season. 
> Meghan Hoffman has held at least a share of the team lead in assists all season. She now leads the team by a huge margin with 12 on the year. The next highest player on the squad has four.
> Courtney Taylor ranks third in Division-I with 3.25 caused turnovers per game.

LAST TIME OUT: TEMPLE 12, vs TOWSON 8
> Temple defeated the Towson Tigers 12-8 to earn their first ranked win since 2018.
> The Owls exploded out of the gate to take a 5-1 lead early in the first half and never looked back. A 5-0 run in the second half put the Tigers away for good.
> Hoffman led the team with a career-high five goals and three assists. Bridget Whitaker also was a key contributor with two scores and an assist.
> Shana Hecht had a fantastic day in net. The Sacred Heart transfer set a new collegiate career-high with ten saves.

SCOUTING ST. JOSEPH'S
> St. Joseph's is 2-2, the Hawks have wins over Army and Leigh, and one goal losses to both Hofstra and Drexel. They also had their season opener against Villanova canceled.
> The Hawks are led by senior attacker Stephanie Kelly. Kelly leads the team in goals, assists, and points. She also holds several program records and was tied for fifth all-time in career assists at the beginning of the 2021 season.
> Goalie Melissa Semkiw has made an instant impact for St. Joseph's after transferring from George Mason. Semkiw is tenth in the nation in ground ball pick-ups (4.25) and is 15th in saves per game (10.75).
> The Hawks are led by Alex Kahoe. Kahoe's time at St. Joseph's has been the most successful in program history by far. Prior to her arrival the team had just three total winning seasons and had only made the A-10 semifinals twice. The last four seasons have all posted winning records for the Hawks and they have qualified for the A-10 semifinals in four straight seasons.
 
SERIES HISTORY vs. ST. JOSEPH'S
> Temple and Saint Joseph's are meeting for the 24th time in series history. Temple has dominated the Hawks 19-4.
> Despite the overall record, in recent years the script has been flipped. St. Joseph's has won the last three matches by an average of 8.6 goals.
> The two squads have met 23 seasons straight and have played every season since 1999.
