Women's Soccer Brings Conference Play Back Home this Wednesday

PHILADELPHIA -- Coming off a two-game win streak, the Owls (3-2-1, 1-2-1 AAC) look to keep their momentum going as they take on the SMU Mustangs this Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the Temple Sports Complex. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
The Owls
> Last time out, the Owls beat the Cincinnati Bearcats, 2-0, with freshman Lexy Endres picking up her first goal as an Owl after Gabriela Johnson drew the foul to set up the penalty kick attempt.
> Johnson would also go on to net her first goal of the season and the game-winner versus the Bearcats.
> For their effort, Endres and Johnson would win AAC Weekly awards including Rookie of the Week and Honor Roll respectively.
> Kamryn Stablein had another great showing inside the net, bringing her season totals to 41 saves, 6.83 saves per game and a save percentage of .854. She continues to leads the conference in saves and saves per game and ranks second in save percentage. Stablein additionally ranks ninth across the NCAA in saves per game, making her Owlsports.com/Nike Athlete of the Month for February.
Scouting SMU
> SMU finished the 2019 season 12-7-1 (AAC 4-5), advancing to the semifinals of the AAC Championship before being beat by No. 1 seed Memphis, 2-4.
> While the Mustangs have yet to play a game this season, the team was selected to finish fourth in the AAC off the Preseason Coaches Poll and earned one first place vote.
> Returning to the team is midfielder Celiana Torres who was named to the Preseason All-Conference Team after a unanimous vote. Torres finished the 2019 season with nine assists, five goals and 18 shots on goal.
> Tatum Sutherland returns in the goal for the Mustangs this season as well. Sutherland posted 67 saves and six solo shutouts in her rookie season and was named to the AAC All-Rookie Team.
