Houston, Texas -- A road trip down south ends in defeat as the Houston Cougars outlasted Temple women's soccer, 3-0, Friday afternoon at the Carl Lewis International Complex.

How It Happened
> Houston's Madison Gear had the first shot of the game in the 5th minute, but it was saved by AAC Goalkeeper of the Week Kamryn Stablein.
> Stablein picked up her second save of the game early on in the 9th minute.
> Gear found redemption in the 11th minute off a corner kick from Mia Brascia, putting Houston up one.
> The Cougars looked to extend their lead in the 21st minute with shots from Gear and Madison Dichiara.
> The Owls' first shot came in the 29th minute from Emma Wilkins, but goalkeeper Mikaela Gracia was there with the save.
> UH would extend the lead in the 32nd minute with a goal by Caitlyn Matthews, assisted by Gear.
> Over the next 13 minutes, the Owls looked to narrow the two-goal lead by Houston, but the Cougars' attacking game proved to be rock solid going into halftime.
> Defender Arryana Daniels came out strong in the second half with a shot bottom center, but Gracia picked up another save.
> Daniels had another goal-scoring opportunity in the 58th minute, but instead of finding the back of the goal, the ball met the crossbar.
> Hailey Gutowski took her shot at putting the Owls on the board in the 62nd minute.
> Madison Bee, Roisin McGovern and Emily Kavanaugh all looked to start the Owls' comeback with shots of their own, but Gracia and the Cougars' defense responded with big stops.
> Stablein picked up her fifth and sixth saves of the game in the 74th minute.
> A breakaway for Houston by Jazmin Grant in the 87th minute proved to be the difference maker as the lead was extended to three.
> The Owls powered on, in hopes of avoiding a shutout, but the Cougars kept their composure and with momentum on their side, they picked up the win as the clock expired.
