Men's Tennis Looks to Improve on Four Match Win Streak this Weekend

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple men's tennis prepares for a weekend away, matching up against Drexel and Penn in some city competition. The Owls first face the Drexel Dragons on Saturday, April 3 at 2 p.m. at the Vidas Tennis Center before taking on Penn at the Hamlin Tennis Center at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Scouting Drexel
> Drexel is lead by Mehdi Rhazali in his 10th season as the Director of Tennis and head coach of the men's tennis program.
> The Dragons went 7-5 during the 2019-20 season before the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
> Drexel holds a 0-1 record this season and has not seen action since Feb. 21 where they fell to NJIT, 4-3.
> Returning for the Dragons are juniors Juan Manuel Sanchez and Gustav Wogen who both had dominant showings last season. Sanchez went 10-8 in singles competition and 10-11 in doubles, while Wogen went 10-10 in singles.
> Temple holds a 5-5 record against Drexel. The teams last met in March 2018 where Drexel defeated Temple, 6-1.

Scouting Penn
> Penn is led by head coach David Geatz who was named the Albert G. Molloy head coach of men's tennis in June 2011.
> The matchup against Temple serves as the season opener for the Quakers this season.
> In their last meeting, the Quakers defeated Temple, 4-0.
> Last season, the team placed fifth in the ECAC Tournament after claiming the ECAC Championship title back in Feb. 2019.
> Penn returns eight players from the 2019-20 roster, adding one freshman to the mix.
