Temple Inducts First Class into New Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma Student-Athlete Honor Society

PHILADELPHIA – Today was a historic day for Temple University as 101 student-athletes were inducted into its newly created chapter of the Chi Alpha Sigma Student-Athlete Honor Society.

"Temple has developed a reputation for its exceptional scholar-athletes, so joining Chi Alpha Sigma was a logical decision," said Justin Miller, Senior Associate Athletics Director and Director of the Resnick Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes. "We are thrilled to be able to induct such a large group of qualified students this year and look forward to this becoming a tradition in the years to come."

Chi Alpha Sigma is the first, and only, national scholar-athlete society to honor those four-year collegiate student-athletes who have excelled in both the classroom and in athletic competition. Chi Alpha Sigma recognizes college student-athletes who participate in a sport at the varsity intercollegiate level, achieve junior academic standing or higher after their fifth full-time semester, and earn a 3.4 or higher cumulative grade point average.

"Establishing a chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma, an honorary society, is just another way Temple can celebrate the academic success of its student-athletes," said Jodi Levine-Laufgraben, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, Assessment, and Institutional Research. "Those inducted to our chapter represent the best and brightest and we are so proud to recognize their excellence."
