PHILADELPHIA - The United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) has announced the 2021 NCAA Fencing All-American teams, with two Owls being named Second Team All-American. Sophomore Margherita Calderaro (epee) earned her second-straight All-American honor while senior Eva Hinds (sabre) earned her first career nod.Â
The USFCA recognizes National Collegiate All-Americans for outstanding performances at NCAA Championships. The top-12 finishers in each event, regardless of Division, are recognized based on their final placement at the competition.Â
At the NCAA Championships last month, Calderaro earned a sixth-place finish while Hinds tied for a seventh-place finish. Calderaro's finish is the highest individual finish in program history for an epeeist, and this marked the first time in program history that the Owls have earned two top-8 finishes.
