Lacrosse Completes Thrilling Comeback to Defeat Cincinnati, 16-14

CINCINNATI, Ohio- The Temple lacrosse team (7-3, 3-2 AAC) overcame a five-goal first-half deficit to defeat the Cincinnati Bearcats (4-7, 0-5 AAC) 16-14 Friday afternoon. Temple is undefeated on the road this season, with a perfect 4-0 record.

Recapping the Game
> The game started quiet, with no scoring until nearly six minutes had elapsed.  Cincinnati scored two goals in quick succession following the opening drought.
> Bridget Whitaker got Temple on the board off an assist from Meghan Hoffman. The Bearcats scored the next three to go up 5-1 with 18:49 remaining it the first.
> The teams traded goals, as the Owls saw scores from juniors Gabrielle Kirsch and Abaigeal Ryan. Cincinnati was able to extend its lead to five (8-3).
> Temple scored two goals to take momentum into the halftime break, with Kirsch and Whitaker both scoring their second to trim the lead to three.
> The Owls came out gunning in the second to tie the game 8-8. Three different scorers found the back of the net in the first five minutes of the period. Mackenzie Roth assisted two goals while Hoffman assisted and scored once.
> The squads traded off the next six goals. UC kept retaking the lead by one before Temple retied the game (11-11). This stretch was dominated by Whitaker and Hoffman, with Hoffman scoring twice and Whitaker adding a goal and assist.
> The Owls finally took their first lead of the match, 12-11, with 14:12 remaining. The Bearcats were able to tie it at 12 before Temple went up again and never looked back.
> Temple scored four of the last six goals to give the Owls a 16-14 win.

Statistically Speaking
> Whitaker and Hoffman led the charge for Temple. Hoffman scored three goals and passed for four assists. Whitaker set new career highs in goals (5) and points (7).
> Ryan smashed her career-high with a hat trick. Roth added two goals and two assists. Kirsch also scored twice. Julie Schickling netted one goal.
> Hoffman paced all players with four assists. She continues her track to set a new single-season assist record. She is now tied for tenth with 25 assists.
