Crew Sweeps Marist in Final Regular Season Races
5.16.21 | Men's Crew
PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple crew team capped off the regular season with an impressive sweep over visiting Marist College on Sunday morning on the Schuylkill. The Owls took all three races contested in a headwind, winning the varsity eight, second varsity eight, and third varsity eight races.
How Sweep It Is
> Temple shuffled its Dad Vail winning lineup in the varsity eight, but still came away with a 10-second victory over the Red Foxes. It was the Owls in 6:00.29 to Marist's 6:10.26 in the race.
> The second varsity eight was the most closely contested race of the day, but in the end it was a four-second win for the Owls. Temple clocked in at 6:17.85 while Marist finished in 6:21.06.
> Temple's third varsity eight boat, primarily made up of freshmen, picked up the largest win of the day for the Owls, topping Marist 6:21.98 to 6:47.48.
Quotable: Head Coach Brian Perkins
> Given some recent circumstances, we were looking at new lineups in all of our eights. Combine that with rested and motivated opponents, the possible "trap" of a post Dad Vail week, and this could have been a dangerous weekend. Luckily our men continued to defend the river and hone their skills for the upcoming National Championships!"
