2021 Football Season Opener Moved to Thursday, September 2

PHILADELPHIA – The 2021 season opening football game between Temple and Rutgers has been changed from Saturday, September 4, to Thursday, September 2. This change was mutually agreed upon by both schools.
The Owls will travel to Piscataway, N.J. to take on the Scarlett Knights in the first football matchup between the two school since 2013. Overall the teams have met 36 times with Rutgers holding a 21-15 advantage.
The two teams were slated to meet in 2020 but the game was canceled. After a season and schedule wrecked by a global pandemic, Temple looks to get back to its winning ways in 2021.
Temple Football is expecting the kickoff times and broadcasting network assignments for the first three weeks of the season to be announced in the coming days.
