Volleyball Earns AVCA Academic Honor
7.20.21 | Women's Volleyball
PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple volleyball team was honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) this week, earning the US Marine Corps/AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2020-21 school year. The award honors excellence in the classroom by recognizing teams that maintain at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA.
Temple's 3.51 yearly GPA earned them a spot on the team, well above the threshold. Overall, 1,275 teams between women's and men's high school and college volleyball earned the distinction this year, down from last season.
With this year's honor, Temple now has a streak of nine straight AVCA Team Academic Awards, all coming under Head Coach Bakeer Ganesharatnam.
