Women’s Soccer Announces 2021 Schedule
7.30.21 | Women's Soccer
PHILADELPHIA — Head Coach Nick Bochette has announced the Temple women's soccer's 2021 schedule. The slate is highlighted by road matches against Big 10 opponents Maryland and Rutgers in addition to the always challenging competition the Owls face in the American Athletic Conference.
"I believe this schedule provides us with the proper blend of competition to prepare our team for conference play," said Bochette. "Opening with two Big 10 teams on the road will be a challenge, as will our local city rivals in Penn, St. Joe's and Drexel. This is what we need to be ready for our AAC slate."
After exhibition matches at Lehigh (Aug. 11) and home against NJIT (Aug. 14), Temple travels to College Park to take on Maryland (Aug. 19) in its season opener. The Owls then head to Rutgers three days later (Aug. 22) to take on the Scarlet Knights.
The Cherry and White then host Penn (Aug. 27) and Binghamton (Aug. 29) to open their home slate at the Temple Sports Complex.
Temple travels to Towson (Sept. 2) next to take on the Tigers before returning home to host Rider (Sept. 4) Saturday of Labor Day weekend. A short trip to Saint Joseph's (Sept. 9) is next before a trip to Memphis (Sept. 16) to open AAC play.
A home match with Drexel (Sept. 19) concludes the Owls non-conference slate and is also the first of a three-game homestand that also features Cincinnati (Sept. 23) and Tulsa (Sept. 30).
Temple travels to ECU (Oct. 7) for its first of five October matches. The Owls are then off for 10 days before hosting Houston on Sunday, Oct. 17. Next is the team's longest trip as Temple travels to SMU (Oct. 20) and then UCF (Oct. 24) to close out its road schedule. The final regular season game will be at home on Oct. 28 against defending champion USF.
The American Athletic Conference Championship will begin on Oct. 31 with first round matches at campus sites. The semifinals (Nov. 4) and championship (Nov. 7) will be held at the home site of the No. 1 seed.
