Owls in the NFL - Week 2

Entering Week 2 of the NFL season, a total of 19Â former Temple Owls made their team's respective active rosters and suited up to play.
Of the 19 total active players, six Owls got the start in Week 2. Falcons' center Matt Hennessy (2017-19) and Bills' guard Dion Dawkins (2013-16) started on the offensive line and played the entirety of the game. Dawkins and team captain Tyler Matakevich helped the Bills to a 35-0 victory over their division rival Dolphins.
On the defensive side, former second round pick Rock Ya-Sin (2018) started his second straight game for the Colts and contributed two tackles against the Rams. Cornerback Tavon Young (2012-15) of the Ravens intercepted a Patrick Mahomes pass in the third quarter that helped turn the tides in Baltimore's 36-35 Sunday Night win over the Chiefs.
Former Temple head coach Matt Rhule (2013-16)Â and the Carolina Panthers fielded four former Owls in their Week 2 win over their division rival Saints. Wide receiver Robby Anderson (2013-15) started the game and caught three passes for 38 yards. Linebacker Haason Reddick (2012-16) also started the game and had an impressive 1.5 sacks and a TFL. Safety Sean Chandler (2015-17) contributed 3 tackles in the win. The Panthers remained undefeated, improving to 2-0 with their 26-7 blowout win vs. the Saints. Former Temple and current Panthers' defensive coordinator Phil Snow and his squad shutdown the explosive Saints' offense.
Around the league, Broncos' kicker Brandon McManus (2009-2012) was a perfect 3 for 3 on field goals in Denver's 23-13 win. Texans defensive lineman Jacob Martin (2014-17) opened up the Texans' first defensive stand with a big third down sack on Browns' quarterback Baker Mayfield. Shaun Bradley (2016-19) of the Eagles played predominantly on special teams.
Matt Ioannidis (2012-15) of the Washington Football Team, and Cardinals defensive tackle Michael Dogbe (2014-18)Â both got on the stat sheet with a tackle each.
