Women’s Soccer Back in Conference Play this Thursday

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's soccer (2-3-3, 0-1-0 AAC) looks for their first conference win of the season as they host Cincinnati (5-3-1, 1-0-0 AAC) this Thursday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+ from the Temple Sports Complex.

- Temple picked up their second win of the season after posting a 3-0 shutout over city rival and non-conference opponent, Drexel at the Temple Sports Complex on Sunday. The Owl effort was spearheaded by Emily Kavanaugh who notched a pair of goals in the match.
- With her two-goal performance on Sunday, Kavanaugh now has a career high of four goals on the season to lead the team in both goals (4) and points (8).
- Hailey Gutowski has showcased her versatility this year, netting two goals while also adding two assists for the Cherry and White.
- Lexy Endres has remained a consistent helper, dishing out three assists on the year to earn a tying second place spot in the American Athletic Conference assist leader category.
- Kamryn Stablein remains a force in goal for the Cherry and White, entering the week as the AAC leader in saves (41).
- Cincinnati finished the 2020-21 season 5-5-1 (3-3-1 AAC) after making a deep run in the AAC Tournament. The Bearcats knocked off second-seeded Memphis, 1-0 in the AAC semifinal to advance to the final for the first time since 2015. The Bearcats quest for an AAC Championship came up short after falling to USF, 0-4.
- Cincinnati enters the match with an overall record of 5-3-1 (1-0-0 AAC), picking up their first conference win in a 1-0 shutout over Tulsa on Thursday, Sept. 16.
- The Bearcats are led by standout senior forward Vanessa DiNardo who has tallied five goals and one assist on the season for 11 points. With only nine games under her belt, DiNardo has already surpassed her career high of six points from 2019. DiNardo enters the week tied for fourth in the conference in both goals (5) and points (11).
- Sophomore Anna Rexford returns in goal for the Bearcats, recording 27 saves and a 0.711 save percentage. In her freshman debut last year, Rexford started all 11 games in net, totaling 36 saves and a .720 save percentage.
- Temple is 3-4-1 all-time against the Bearcats with the teams' last meeting coming in 2020-21. The Owls defeated the Bearcats, 2-1 off a 75th minute goal from Gabriela Johnson.
