Men’s Soccer Downed by Memphis 2-0

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple men's soccer team (1-4-2, 0-3-0 AAC) fell to the Memphis Tigers (2-6-1, 1-2-0 AAC) 2-0 Wednesday night. This is the first time since 2015 a match between the two sides has ended in regulation.
How it Happened
> Memphis opened the match with an early goal in the 4th minute.
> Temple had an excellent run in the 12th minute. Jalen Campbell won the ball in the box after a cross from Luka Kozomara. Campbell made the extra pass to find a wide-open Nigel Griffith. Griffith fired the ball to the bottom right corner of the cage where it was turned away by the Memphis keeper.
> The Tigers found the back of the net again in the 20th minute to go up 2-0.
> Owl keeper Liam Cummings made an impressive save late in the first half. Memphis created a chance via a header to the back post. The ball took a wild bounce off a Temple player, but Cummings tracked it well and made a clean save.
> Kozomara had one of the best chances of the match early in the second half. The freshman had a near-perfect strike off a set piece the sailed over the keeper, but the ball hit the woodwork denying Temple the score.
> Cummings impressed again in the 49th minute. The Tigers drove deep into Owl territory and set up a strong chance from the top of the box. The keeper made a quick read and saved the ball with ease.
> Despite a late push, the Owls could not even the score. Memphis won by a final tally of 2-0.
Game Notes
> Temple had seven corner kicks in the first half, its most in any half this season.
> Four yellow cards were issued in this match. Two on Memphis and two on Temple.
